Gaming Chairman: Mississippi Coast Ready for More Casinos

MISSISSIPPI – As reported by the Clarion-Ledger: "The chairman of the Mississippi Gaming Commission said Wednesday he believes the Mississippi Gulf Coast is ready for another casino.

"'The proof is in the pudding in that the Hard Rock (Hotel & Casino) bond offering was oversubscribed,' said Len Blackwell of Gulfport.

"…The proposed $235 million Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi is nearing construction Wednesday with the commission giving Premier Entertainment, the casino developer, the OK to proceed with plans. The OK came after the commission reviewed funding for the project and found it in order.

"Construction could begin as early as next week on the casino that will be built next to Beau Rivage Casino & Hotel, said Joe Billhimer, president and chief operating officer for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino…"
