Gaming Board Investigates Venetian Promo Contest11 June 2002LAS VEGAS --The Nevada Gaming Control Board is investigating an alleged scheme in which employees at The Venetian casino may have rigged a promotional contest for a gambler. Venetian officials voluntarily reported the alleged incident to the board, prompting the investigation, board member Bobby Siller said today. Siller said Venetian executives told the board that employees who were connected to the contest have lost their jobs. Siller refused to discuss the details of the scheme other than to say an investigation is under way. The board also will be examining promotional giveaways at other casinos, he said. "For now, we've had no additional reports of a problem (elsewhere)." Venetian executives declined comment. Nevada gaming regulations prohibit rigged games and contests. |
