Gambling risk from Dome

LONDON, England -- As reported by icSouthLondon: "A supercasino at the dome would increase the risk of residents becoming gambling addicts, according to a report commissioned by Greenwich council.

"The document, by Pricewaterhouse Cooper on the economic and social impacts of having a regional casino as part of The O2 development, warns that research shows close proximity to casinos increases the prevalence of problem gambling in an area.

"It notes the proposed location on the peninsula is away from the main residential areas but adds: 'Greenwich residents, particularly those who will live in the 10,000 new houses to be built on the Peninsula are at increased risk from problem gambling. "The extent of this risk will be partly determined by the quality of mitigating measures undertaken."

"...But the study also highlights that 2,350 jobs will be created..."
