Gambling Research Needed, Says Vancouver Councillor17 January 2005VANCOUVER, Canada -- As reported by the CBC: "Vancouver city councillor Peter Ladner wants the province to set up an independent gambling research institute to study the effects of expanded gambling in B.C. "Ladner says that as gambling continues to expand in B.C., politicians need to know how it's affecting their constituents. "...He says the province can afford to spend some its gaming profits on some research. "'If you look at the total take from gambling, the total revenue of gambling in B.C., it's upwards of $600 million I believe. And headed up from there.'..." |
