Gambling Provisions Languish in Missouri Senate

``The Senate Ways and Means Committee last week heard four bills proposing either to lift the loss limits or raise the boarding fees and taxes on casinos, or both.

``The committee, headed by Sen. Carl Vogel, a Jefferson City Republican, did not vote on any of the proposals and has not scheduled a vote, as is customary for any bill under serious consideration.

``Vogel said it did not make any sense for his committee to vote on the bills when they probably were dead on arrival in the House.

``…Supporters of removing the loss limits say that doing so would bring gamblers to Missouri who now go to other states that don't limit how much gamblers can lose…"
