Gambling licence row in London casino bid

25 April 2011

LONDON, England -- The awarding of a casino licence to Aspers close to the Olympic site has prompted a legal challenge, The Guardian reported.

One of the rival bidders, Great Eastern Quays Casino, has appealed the decision, demanding an explanation of why the process was not public, the report said.

Apollo, the other defeated bidder, is also considering a "judicial review", The Guardian said.

Great Eastern is particularly aggrieved over whether proper processes were followed and why local area regeneration commitments within the bids were not more central to the awarding of the licence, The Guardian reported.
