Gambling Issue Focus of Nebraska Debates

NEBRASKA – As reported by the Omaha World-Herald: "…[Julia] Plucker, a spokeswoman for a pro-gambling coalition, has accepted a challenge from Gambling With the Good Life to a series of debates across Nebraska.

"The only condition is that Plucker wants to debate Loontjer, a key spokeswoman for the anti-gambling group.

"…Loontjer said Gambling with the Good Life was glad that Plucker's group had accepted the debate challenge.

"But she said her group will decide who represents it in the debates, not Plucker.

"…There are expected to be two gambling proposals on the Nov. 2 ballot in Nebraska. One is a four-part petition supported by Coast Casinos of Las Vegas, keno parlors and horse-track interests…"
