Gambling Helps Boost Mobile Revenues5 May 2005UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the Netimperative: "Mobile entertainment revenues are set to soar over the rest of the decade, owing to a rapid expansion in mobile content coupled with a sharp increase in 3G handset adoption, according to new research. "The study, from Juniper Research, forecasts that mobile entertainment revenues will top $59bn by 2009. "While adult content, frequently heralded as mobile's 'killer app', will generate revenues of nearly US$2.2bn by the end of the decade, the key drivers of mobile content are expected to be gambling and games, with their respective markets worth US$19.3bn and US$18.5bn by 2009. "…After gambling (33%) and games (31%), the most popular entertainment services in 2009 will be music (16%) and sports (8%)…" |
