Now, Prairie Meadows is ready to spend millions of dollars to expand gaming. The racetrack casino says table games would pour millions into Polk County, but it's far from a done deal. ``Today, Prairie Meadows will try to smooth the way for table gaming at the Altoona facility. Prairie Meadows will try to convince county supervisors that millions spent expanding for table games will mean an annual jackpot. ``...The long-term wish list at Prairie Meadows tops $90 million. More room for gaming, entertainment, a restaurant and a hotel. ``The county has to pay taxes for all of those buildings. Some people say that would significantly reduce the amount of money the county would see from table games..." |
