Gambling Boats Head to Florida for Season16 November 2004DA-- As reported by the Daily Item: "The Horizon's Edge casino boat won't be sailing from Gloucester over the winter, a business decision that could leave some part-time employees out of a job and loyal patrons without a place to gamble. "John Yasi, vice president of Horizon's Edge Casino Cruises, which from spring to fall operates boats in Lynn and Gloucester, said the decision was driven by economic necessity. "'We tried sailing the boat out of Gloucester during the winter for the first time last year,' he said.'We had a small, core group of regulars, but not enough business to make us turn away a lucrative lease arrangement.' "The company's two boats - the $8-million 500-passenger Horizon's Edge, and the $4-million 400-passenger Sun Dancer II - are en route to Florida. According to Yasi, investors leasing the boats tentatively plan to sail from Jacksonville and Key West..." |
