Gambling addicted nun squandered stolen million14 November 2011NEW YORK -- A gambling-addicted nun Sister Marie Thornton was narrowly spared three years in jail last week, The New York Post reported. Sr Marie Thornton, 65, lost $1 million on slots, which she allegedly stole from the college where she worked, the report explained. Her religious order have sentenced her internally to isolation and solitary confinement for her complex cover-up and deceit, The New York Post said. In court the nun who pleaded guilty to embezzlement conveyed her deep shame and remorse over her conduct, the report noted. |
