Gamblers' $3.5B suit against OLG rejected

22 March 2010

ONTARIO, Canada -- A bid to launch a class action suit against the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has failed, CBC news reports.

Problem gamblers charge that they incurred losses after they signed exclusion orders and the OLG failed to prevent them entering casino and gambling premises, the CBC said.

The judge in the case said gamblers would have to file individual lawsuits because their personal circumstances were unique, according to CBC.

OLG pointed out that self exclusion is not a "policing program", the CBC report noted.
