Gambler Tells of Suicide Attempts

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the Scotsman: "A businessman has told of the gambling hell which has led him to attempt suicide five times this year.

"The gambler today admitted he slashed his wrists in the toilets of an Edinburgh casino after blowing thousands, as exclusively revealed in the Evening News on Saturday.

"The 30-year-old, who asked not to be named, claims to have lost more than £200,000 playing roulette at the casino.

"…The man, who is of east European origin, admits he is addicted to gambling and claims he has asked casino staff to bar him from the premises.

"With his hands visibly shaking, and wearing a long-sleeved jumper to cover his scars, he told of a catalogue of gruesome suicide attempts. He has lost his job and left his Edinburgh-born wife of six years shortly before his most recent suicide bid.

"…A spokesman for casino owner Stanley Leisure today said it had strict rules regarding admission…"
