Galaxy Plans Unveils Macao Plans

MACAO – As reported by the Xinhuanet: "Galaxy Resort and Casino, one of the newest entrants into Macao's hospitality and gaming industry, unveiled here on Wednesday a 1.1-billion-US dollar plan for building casinos and hotels in Macao.

"The five-star Galaxy Star World Hotel, Galaxy's first purpose-built property, is due to open in 2005, said Francis Lui, chairman of the board of the Galaxy Resort and Casino, adding that the hotel will incorporate art leisure and gaming facilities.

"Among other multipurpose leisure and gaming facilities in Galaxy's plan are the renovation of the Galaxy Waldo Hotel and the building of a mega resort hotel on a large piece of plot at the joint of Macao's Coloane and Taipa islands, which are scheduled toopen in 2004 and 2006, respectively.

"…The new Galaxy hospitality facilities are expected to offer up to 6,000 jobs here for the next seven years."
