Gala Criticizes UK Government's Scaled Back Plans

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the UK Evening Standard: "The British Government has 'lost the plot' over gambling deregulation, the boss of casinos operator Gala said today. Neil Goulden, chief executive of the group which abandoned plans for a joint venture with US giant Harrah's Entertainment, unleashed an astonishing attack on the Government's handling of the industry, following a dramatic scaling-back of its original deregulation plans.

"After making initial plans for a host of Las Vegas-style casinos, the Government retreated amid a furious backlash.

"…Goulden said the plans would make it impossible for British companies to compete against new entrants from overseas…"
