Gala Bingo goes for the Balls with official Guinness World Records attempt14 July 2014GIBRALTAR -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- How does a leading bingo brand help a charity looking to get men checking for the early signs and symptoms of prostate, bowel and testicular cancer? In the case of Gala Bingo you host a one-off bingo game on the cobbled streets of Coronation Street The Tour in Manchester, invite TV personalities to attend and give members of the public the chance to take part - all the while raising funds for the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign. The event is all about comically large bouncy bingo balls being thrown from the windows of the houses on the iconic soap set as they attempt to set an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS record for the largest set of bingo balls! Over the last few weeks players at Gala Bingo have been competing for tickets to attend the event on 18th July. Lucky winners won tickets playing Gala Bingo's exclusive range of Coronation Street themed bingo and slots games. The event also marks the launch of their latest game, 'Corrie Bouncy Balls', which led to this unique event and charity pairing! Enter MCAC, a charity that aims to dispel the culture of embarrassment discouraging men from openly discussing cancers associated with intimate areas. Gala Bingo Director, Alison Digges tells us: "We wanted to do something special for the launch of 'Corrie Bouncy Balls', something involving balls! We love the innovative, educational approach MCAC takes, so we're delighted to work with them. And an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt seemed like a good way to get everyone's attention. So we've organised a bingo game on Coronation Street, invited some ex-cast members and have raised money for charity, all at the same time!" An impressive cheque for over £10,000 will be presented to glamour model and MCAC ambassador, Rhian Sugden at the official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt for the largest set of bingo balls. Fans of the show will get to tour the former set and meet past soap actors including, Shobna Gulati (Sunita Alahan), Sherrie Hewson (Maureen Webster), Steven Arnold (Ashley Peacock) and Adam Rickitt (Nick Tilsley). All attendees will then take part in the World Record attempt bingo game. It's also going to be hosted by This Morning's Alison Hammond, who'll be calling all 90 custom-made, big and bouncy bingo balls! |
