Gaborone citizen-owned casino opens

GABORONE, Botswana – As reported by All-Africa News: "The Minister of Trade and Industry, Neo Moroka, will today (Wednesday) officially open the Moonlite Casino-Gaborone Hotel.

"The new casino, which opened its doors last week, is the first independent, citizen-owned casino operation in Gaborone and brings the number of casinos in the capital to three. The Gaming Manager, Ian Saunders, told Mmegi yesterday that the casino, which comprises 50 slot machines, is all-electronic, meaning that there is no cash involved.

"…The new casino is worth over P2 million of investments, but is only Phase 1 of the entire project.

"Phase Two is a proposed P6 million investment planned to commerce mid 2007 and would comprise an additional 50 slot machines, eight Roulette, Black Jack and Porker tables divided into smoking and non-smoking areas…"
