Futile Raids Baffle Malaysian Police27 February 2004SANDAKAN, Malaysia – As reported by the Malaysian Daily Express: "Police here are baffled why each time they raid a premises believed to be a slot machine gambling den, it is always either closed or suddenly emptied. "District Police Chief, ACP Suhaimi Mohd Ali, said it was regrettable that despite such operations being conducted on the back of reliable information and surveillance, they still amounted to nothing, probably due to leaks in information. "…Suhaimi said police had already received that information but that the said premises was always suddenly closed each time it was raided. "'Police will intensify operations against the illegal activities with the co-operation of all parties,' he said…" |
