Full house expected for casino hearing13 December 2006PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Hanover Evening Sun: "Hundreds of citizens are expected to attend the hearing about a proposed casino near Gettysburg today, in contrast to the sparse attendance at similar hearings for competing slots proposals. "The hearings, held by the state Gaming Control Board to determine which projects are worthy of gaming licenses, do not include any opportunity for public participation. Instead, it is an opportunity for the gaming board to question slots applicants before its anticipated vote Dec. 20 to award licenses. "…At similar hearings earlier this month, only a couple dozen spectators came to watch the proceedings. "But the Gettysburg proposal has attracted national attention for its proximity to the battlefield park and historic town…" |
