French Lick results strong

RENCH LICK, Indiana -- As reported by the Bedford Times Mail: "The French Casino, last month, put up the third-best monthly visitor count since opening its doors in November of 2006.

"And Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Rob Denbo said the 140,077 people who passed through the casino doors in August didn't just benefit the casino, French Lick and West Baden Springs.

"The visitors, he said, helped all of Orange County, citing a 'huge — at least huge for us — sports complex' to be built on the west side of Paoli with the help of casino tax money.

"In August, according to the Indiana Gaming Commission report, the casino paid more than $1.9 million in taxes to the state, or which a portion is redistributed to Orange County communities. As far as visitors, August was topped by July when 160,782 people passed through the casino turnstile, and the opening month of November when 156,263 entered..."
