French Lick Resort Casino's golf course honored regionally and nationally

Golf Magazine ranked the course the No. 1 value among golf courses in Kentucky and Indiana. It surpassed Old Silo Golf Club in Mt. Sterling, Ky., Covered Bridge in Sellersburg, Ind., Chariot Run in Elizabeth, Ind., and University Club of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.

The Zagat Survey's 2007/08 Guide to America's Top Golf Courses named French Lick as one of the top courses and gave it an "excellent rating." More than 6,000 avid golfers participated in the Zagat Survey, covering 1,075 courses across the U.S., Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

The Donald Ross Course also impressed the editors of Indiana Business Magazine, who honored one of its holes as among the 18 best holes in Indiana in the April issue. The legendary 8th hole is 366 yards and is a 90-degree dogleg left, according to Dave Harner, director of golf operations at French Lick. The tee sets up a 140-yard approach across a deep ravine to a steeply sloped green that is one of the most difficult in golf if you are not directly below the hole.

Once all courses are open, French Lick Resort Casino will feature 45 holes of unparalleled golfing heaven. In addition, the resort's new 60,000-square-foot Sports Center offers a 10-station indoor driving range and indoor putting green and video swing analysis. It's open seven days a week from noon-8 p.m.

From the full restoration of the original Donald Ross course to the addition of a Pete Dye course in 2008 and the renovation of the Tom Bendelow course set to open this summer, French Lick is positioned to be a premier golf destination in the Midwest.

French Lick Resort Casino is a $382 million historic restoration and casino development project that includes the French Lick Springs Hotel, the new French Lick Casino and the West Baden Springs Hotel (opening spring 2007).
