French Lick casino restructured6 December 2007INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- As reported by the Louisville Courier-Journal: "The family that owns the French Lick Resorts & Casino plans to part ways with Benchmark Hospitality International, the company that has managed the two hotels since their reopenings in the past 13 months. "As part of the change, the family of billionaire entrepreneur Bill Cook also plans to restructure ownership of the Orange County casino and hotels, in part to provide better employee benefits and help move the operations to profitability, said Chris Leininger, the resort's chief operating officer. "The resort will be brought under the Bloomington-based Cook Group, a collection of privately held, mostly healthcare related companies owned by Cook and his family. "The new structure would essentially eliminate a key facet of the original casino organization, a charitable trust-like company that eventually would have funneled casino profits to three groups — the Historic Landmarks Foundation, the Indiana University Foundation and the Orange County Community Foundation. "...The changes will not affect the distribution of the resort's tax revenues..." |
