Freemont Street Trial Expected Next Summer

10 September 2002

LAS VEGAS--Fremont Street Experience lawyer Pat Reilly said this week that the pedestrian mall's lawsuit against Binion's Horseshoe is expected to go to trial next summer.

The Fremont Street Experience seeks more than $2 million in unpaid membership dues from the downtown hotel-casino.

"We're in the middle of discovery, and we're all getting ready for trial next June," Reilly said.

The property recently settled a new five-year deal with the union representing its housekeepers and food-service workers, Culinary Local 226.

The Horseshoe, in an effort to cut costs, recently closed the cashier's cage, craps pit and most of the other table games on the west side, the old Mint side, of the 51-year old property.
