Foxwoods to Consult for California Tribal Casino

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the Fresno Bee: "The Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino has signed a consulting agreement with the operator of the Foxwoods casino in Connecticut, one of the world's largest gaming centers.

"The Foxwoods Development Co. will do an 'A-to-Z assessment' of the operations of the Madera County casino, said Joyce Burel, chairwoman of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians. The firm also will evaluate expansion possibilities, such as adding to the 197-room casino hotel or building a spa or swimming pool.

"Burel said Foxwoods will not manage the daily operations of the casino, which last summer ousted operator Cascade Entertainment Group.

"…The tribe chose Foxwoods because the firm is American Indian-owned and has extensive experience running a casino, Burel said.

"…The Chukchansi casino opened in Coarsegold in June2003. It has 1,800 slot machines, 46 table games and more than 1,000 employees…"
