Foxwoods slot revenue rebounds in March15 April 2013MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Slot revenue at Foxwoods® Resort Casino fell 5.7 percent in March to $49.6 million, the company reported today. The monthly figure marked an $11.1 million improvement over the slot revenues reported last month. Handle for March 2013 was off 6.7 percent from the same month the previous year, but the March total of $595.2 million was $132.5 million higher than the revenue recorded in February of this year. The Casino contributed $12.7 million to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund based on its March results. The cumulative contribution to the state of Connecticut since Foxwoods opened in 1992 rose to $3.47 billion. Steven Wright and Marc Anthony headline this weekend (April) on Foxwoods main stages. Wright is a two-time Grammy award winning comedic genius who sells out audiences the world over. Anthony’s five Grammys, multiple Gold and Platinum records make home one of the most influential Latin music artists of our time. Bill Engvall, American Comedy Award winner for Best Male Stand-up Comedian, drops by the MGM Grand Theater on April 27. Il Divo, the world’s first and still best classical crossover group with over 26 million albums sold, appears on May 3; and the next night Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero meet for a major welterweight bout. Finally, tickets are now on sale for Aerosmith’s July 10th concert at the Resort. The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center brings its engaging exhibit of Native dolls to a close this weekend with a final tour chock full of fascinating stories. Earth Week (April 24-27) sparks exhibits comparing our impact on earth today with that of the Pequots prior to colonization. The Museum will also offer special features on the natural history of wolves – Wolf Talk on April 18 and 20) – and a remarkable film about an orphaned otter rescued by the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Sea Otter Research and Conservation Program.
