Foxwoods Resort Casino receives top service honors

30 June 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Foxwoods Resort Casino was recently celebrated for distinguished service in hotel operations, environmental services and human resources, scoring top honors from AAA for continued excellence and The American Business Awards (ABA) for outstanding efforts in 2015.

The Grand Pequot Tower and Fox Tower were both certified as AAA Four Diamond hotels, earning the prestigious recognition for the fourteenth and ninth consecutive year, respectively. Less than six percent of the 28,000 hotels approved by AAA reach the Four Diamond list, and with multiple hotels consistently ranked as some of the best in the country, Foxwoods continues to establish itself as the premier resort destination in the Northeast.

"We are thrilled that both the Grand Pequot Tower and Fox Tower were selected by AAA as Four Diamond hotels, and this honor is a tribute to the incredible team we have on property," said Jason Guyot, Vice President of Resort Operations and Development at Foxwoods Resort Casino. "Our guests look to Foxwoods for the highest level of service and we strive daily to not only meet but exceed those expectations."

The awards continued to roll in for Foxwoods, with the property's Environmental Services department winning a Gold American Business Award for Support Department of the Year and the Human Resources department securing a Bronze American Business Award for Human Resources Department of the Year.

The Environmental Services department took ABA's top prize in the category due to their efforts in 2015 when Foxwoods converted nearly 8,000 tons of waste to clean energy, enough to power more than 750 homes for a year, meet the fresh water needs of over 63,000 people and produce nearly 120 million sheets of paper. Through the Terracycle program, the property also recycled over one million cigarette butts.

Foxwoods' Human Resources department won recognition for the strong programs it has implemented for the organization's team members, including the Employee Emergency Assistance Fund which provides financial assistance to Foxwoods, Fox Tower and Tribal Government employees who are experiencing considerable financial hardship. Pequot Academy also executed various team member empowerment programs including the Leadership Education and Advancement Program which led to 85 percent of participants earning promotions.

"Foxwoods Resort Casino is committed to providing our team members with a broad range of benefits and key initiatives to ensure a healthy and rewarding workplace," added Dale Patricia Merrill, Vice President of Human Resources & Administration. "One of our primary goals has always been, and will continue to be, the betterment of our dedicated team of hospitality professionals."
