Foxwoods reports October slot revenue

15 November 2013

CONNECTICUT -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Foxwoods Resort Casino today reported October slot revenue of $42.1 million, a decline of 1.9 percent from the $42.9 million reported for the same month last year. Handle for the month was $480.7 million, off 7.5 percent from the $519.6 million wagered in October 2012.

Foxwoods contributed $10.5 million to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund based on its October slot results. The cumulative contribution to the State since Foxwoods opened in 1992 now stands at more than $3.55 billion.

With the onset of the holidays, the Resort is getting ready to put its brand of cheer into the season. The Mystic Ballet performs the Nutcracker Spectacular at Fox Theater beginning December 7. This magical presentation is for “kids” of all ages, and tickets are on sale now.

Laughs will be center stage, too. Headliners include Tracy Morgan of 30 Rock and SNL fame, who will be on stage at Fox Theater on November 23; and Jerry Seinfeld, who appears at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods on December 7 to deliver his unique and uproariously funny observations on personal relationships and social obligations.

There are a host of other funny men and ladies due on property as well including fan favorites Rodney Carrington (Nov. 16), Mike Gaffney (Nov. 17), Billy Wayne Davis & Lahna Turner (Nov. 21-23), Michael Che (Nov. 29-30), Kyle Grooms (Dec. 5-7), Ralphie May (Dec.6), Dean Edwards (Dec. 12-14), Nick Kroll (Dec. 13) and Lisa Lampanelli (Dec. 14).

For music lovers, the line-up for the next month features a mix of rap, standard, electronic dance, salsa, country, and rock ‘n roll. It begins tomorrow with Rick Ross rapping in the MGM Grand and Mohamad Assaf’s ensemble delivering standards in the Premier Ballroom. DJ Duos light up the Resort on November 19. Charlie Wilson, whose ballad “My Love Is All I Have” is #1 on the Adult Urban Contemporary chart, appears on November 23.

Thanksgiving week, audiences will have a chance to see hot new Dutch breakout artist Dyro (Nov. 26), Pure Salsa (Nov. 30), Ricardo Fogli and the Brian Selzer Orchestra (both Dec.1). Branson on the Road arrives on December 3 and at Fox Theater on December 10 the Resort hosts Celtic Yuletide with Michale Londra.

At the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, Native New England Now continues through January 4. Native New England Contemporary Art will be subject of a Quarterly Conversation on Saturday November 16. Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 30) features Native Cooking on the Farmstead, a chance to sample Native food cooked over the open fire. The same day the Winter Moon Market opens for visitors looking for unforgettable holiday gifts. And on December 4, the museum will light up the Tree of Nations.
