Foxwoods reports January slot revenue

MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- January slot revenue at Foxwoods Resort Casino declined 8.9 percent in January to $37.1 million compared to $40.7 million in January 2013. Handle for the month was $433.3 million, off 14.1 percent from the $504.4 million wagered in January 2013.

Foxwoods’ contribution to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund this month was $9.3 million, bringing the cumulative contribution to the State since Foxwoods opened in 1992 to more than $3.6 billion.

“While weather does continue to be a factor, we are starting to see consistency in our numbers,” said President and CEO Scott Butera. “We remain committed to our current plan and more importantly to our guests and their experiences in the changing marketplace.”

Foxwoods Resort Casino is in the midst of its 22nd anniversary celebration with exciting giveaways for its rewards members and special events available to the general public. This weekend guests are invited to the Anniversary cake cutting ceremony on Saturday and the Lion Dance on Sunday, in celebration of Chinese New Year. On Monday, February 17, Foxwoods will give away over $60,000 in cash to 22 Foxwoods Rewards Members during the 22nd Anniversary Giveaway. On Monday, February 24, there is the $10,000 Cash Blizzard Hot Seat.

This also marks the final weeks of the Foxwoods Rink & Winter Patio and the Real Pirates Exhibit. Families are encouraged to enjoy both before time runs out. For more family friendly activities, Foxwoods will host “Kid’s Week” from February 17- 21, 2014, providing activities free of charge for children of all ages. Families are invited to enjoy activities including free movie screenings of family-friendly blockbusters, face painting and balloon animals, arts and crafts and free games in the Foxwoods Tree House Arcade. A host of vacation activities are also scheduled at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center.

For the ultimate family activity, visit the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center for Backyard Monsters: The World of Insects now through May 17. With a focus on nature and natural history, the exhibit is educational while capturing the attention and imagination of children and adults. Giant robotic insects, up to 96 times their normal size, are only a sampling of the extraordinary exhibit.

Headline entertainment over the coming weeks includes Emblem 3, Robin Thicke, Jamie Foxx, Paul Reiser, and Trisha Yearwood and much more.

Now, loyal fans also can enjoy the Foxwoods experience “on the go”. Foxwoods Resort Casino, in partnership with GameAccount Network, has launched the first ever Simulated Gaming online casino experience in the United States. The online casino, FoxPlay, will offer users the ability to enjoy the Foxwoods experience from their own electronic devices.
