Foxwoods reports January slot revenue

MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Slot revenue at Foxwoods® Resort Casino for January 2013 was $40.7 million, 12.1 percent lower than the same month a year ago. Handle for the month declined 8.3 percent to $504.4 million.

The Casino contributed $10.6 million to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund based on its January revenue. The cumulative contribution to the state of Connecticut since Foxwoods opened in 1992 rose to $3.45 billion.

Valentine’s weekend is chock full of entertainment and comedy at the Resort. Eddie Izzard headlines on February 15th. Hundreds of local families will be auditioning Saturday and Sunday for appearances on the popular TV program Family Feud. Resort guests can drop by the Fox Theater and get up close and personal with the iconic cast of one of TV’s most enduring soaps, All My Children. Valentine sushi-making classes will be conducted on the 16th at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods, and El Concierto Del Amor fills the MGM Grand Theater with love songs that night. Tammy Pescatelli kicks off a month of laughs with performances on the 15th and 16th. “Victory: An Exhibition Celebrating Boston Sports” continues in the Great Cedar Exhibition Hall through February 24th.

At the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center, a compelling series of films on “The Importance of Water” continues with documentaries entitled Keepers of the Water and Together We Stand. The Museum’s Reading Circle features Professor Theodore Van Alst, director of Yale University’s Native American Cultural Center, leading a discussion of Tracks by Louise Erdrich. Later in month, on the 22nd and 23rd, the Museum will host the Kahawi Dance Theater Presentation of Medicine Bear, an extraordinary multimedia dance theater performance for young audiences, weaving together two traditional Iroquoian stories.
