Foxwoods reports August slot revenue

MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Foxwoods Resort Casino today reported slot revenue of $46.9 million for the month of August. This figure is down 3.3 percent compared to $48.6 million in August of 2013. Handle for the month was $565.1 million, down 3.7 percent from the $586.8 million wagered in the same month in 2013.

“Despite declining slot revenue in the CT market, August was an encouraging month for Foxwoods Resort Casino as other parts of our business performed well,” said President and CEO, Scott Butera.

Foxwoods’ contribution to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund this month is $12.0 million bringing the cumulative contribution to the state since Foxwoods opened in 1992 to nearly $3.7 billion.

Fresh off the grand re-opening of the retail concourse, guests of Foxwoods Resort Casino are enjoying the bright and contemporary shopping promenade located adjacent to the Great Cedar Casino that features new boutique shops Activa, Activa Kicks, Folli Follie, Kidstuff, Native Nations, Outpost, Panache, Scenses, and Sugar Rush.

This coming weekend, Sept 19-21, gaming takes on a slightly different look at Foxwoods with the Game Underground Tournament Spectacular 3 (GUTS), New England's premiere three-day video game tournament. Amateurs and top pro gamers alike will compete on the hottest new and classic games including Capcom Pro Tour Ultra Street Fighter IV Tournament, Super Smash Bros Melee, Project M, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Mario Kart 8 and many more.

Of course, there is always world-class gaming on 5,800 slots machines and 350 tables. Plus, The Pro Football Challenge continues throughout football season.

With a renewed focus on athletics, Foxwoods hosts live Boxing with NBC Boxing in the afternoon on September 20 and World Class Boxing Presented by DiBella Entertainment on October 4. The early Fall line-up of world-class entertainment is highlighted with the likes of Last Comic Standing (Sept. 25), teen favorites R5 on September 27, rising star Iggy Azalea on September 28, and iconic Judas Priest on October 11. Musical entertainment takes on an international flare with Lo Mejor de Los 90's on October 4 and the International Music Festival on October 12.

The full comedy line-up with Comix at Foxwoods includes Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood (Sept 27), Whoopi Goldberg (Oct 10) Nick Swardson (Oct 10) and many more. Plus there’s theatrical performance scheduled including My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish, and I'm in Therapy (Sept 26).

The excitement continues in October when guests are invited to “Come on Down” to Foxwoods to try their luck not only a slots and tables but at The Price Is Right Live!™, the hit interactive stage show that gives contestants the chance to win great prizes by playing classic games from television's longest running and most popular game show.

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center features a full calendar featuring fun and interactive events and exhibitions like The Bison: American Icon; Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day Live!; A Conversation: Cultural Appropriation, Stereotypes, & Indian Mascots and a host of others.
