Foxwoods reports April slot revenue

15 May 2013

MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Foxwoods Resort Casino reported that it generated $44.5 million in slot revenue in April 2013 on handle of $528.9 million. The revenue figure represents a 10.2 percent decline from the $49.5 million the Casino produced for same period a year ago. Handle was off 11.9 percent from the $600.0 million wagered April 2012.

Despite the decline in slot revenue, Foxwoods CEO Scott C. Butera commented that “the overall performance of the property has been encouraging.”

The Casino contributed $11.2 million to the Connecticut Special Revenue Fund based on its April results. The cumulative contribution to the state of Connecticut since Foxwoods opened in 1992 rose to $3.49 billion.

Comedy is the watchword for the Resort during the weeks leading up to Memorial Day as George Lopez, Penn & Teller, Dana Carvey, Dennis Miller and Kevin Nealon make appearances at the MGM Grand Theater. For the musically inclined, headliners include Wisin & Yandel, the Grammy Award winning Latin duo performing as part of their wildly popular Los Lideres Tour. Original punk rocker Billy Idol hits the stage at MGM Grand at Foxwoods on June 1.

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center presents the fascinating underground world of skateboarding in Indian country, highlighting an important Native American culture of the West Coast. The exhibit opens May 25 and includes film and photographs organized by the Smithsonian. Also on May 25, senior researcher Dr. Jason Mancini leads a Full-Moon Hike in Pequot Country. The Museum celebrates Wutahum Wuyhan (strawberry moon) June 7 & 8 with free admission to Strawberry Thanksgiving events to give thanks for the first berry of the year.
