Foxwoods Names New President

12 July 2006

MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut – (PRESS RELEASE) -- John O'Brien, whose appointment to succeed Bill Sherlock as president of Foxwoods Resort Casino was announced in May will formally begin serving as Foxwoods' fifth president on Thursday, (July 13th), the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council announced today.

The news of O'Brien's transition into the president's office comes as part of a broader management realignment that the tribal council completed the implementation of today. The Tribal Council, in a statement, said:

"We are enthusiastic about the future of Foxwoods and our ongoing resort build out at Mashantucket and in the region. John O'Brien takes over during a period of exciting growth that will positively affect Foxwoods' team members at all levels with new possibilities for professional opportunities.

"We understand that change can be difficult to embrace, but we must continually refine the management structure to meet the demands of our enterprise. This management realignment is about doing just that; it is not about the performance of any individual; it is about aligning our management structure to best position ourselves for future growth. We sincerely appreciate the contributions and success of our management team over the years.

"The changes made today will support enhanced customer experiences and additional tribal community success, along with a new wave of employee opportunities for upward mobility. We are confident that John will help us to capture these opportunities."

O'Brien joined Foxwoods in 1997 after a 12-year career with Hilton, during which he served in a number of senior-level positions, including that of president and CEO of Casino Windsor in Canada. He brings with him a varied background in the U.S. and in several foreign countries.
