Foxwoods introduces Play It First game zone

5 December 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Foxwoods Resort Casino, voted the Best Casino Outside Las Vegas by a USA Today readers’ poll, today announced Play It First New Game Zone. Scheduled to open on 10 December, Play It First is an innovative gaming area that allows guests to experience brand-new table games, including industry-first concepts.

Located in the Grand Pequot Tower, Play It First will feature four unique games that rotate on a quarterly basis, including two that are new to the gaming industry. The inaugural games are industry newcomers Dragon Poker and 3 Card Blitz, alongside updated twists on the classics with Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em and Double Draw Poker. Dedicated Foxwoods team members will be stationed in the New Game Zone to help players get acquainted with the new offerings.

“As an award-winning gaming destination, Foxwoods aims to consistently up the ante on our already stellar gaming program by giving players a fresh, exciting experience every time they come to property,” said Wayne Theiss, Vice President of Table Games at Foxwoods Resort Casino. “Play It First is our latest effort in delivering on that goal, and we’re excited to offer guests a chance to try a unique mix of industry-first games as well as fresh takes on casino favorites.”

More details on the initial four games to feature in the Play It First New Game Zone are as follows:
  • Dragon Poker is a traditional player-versus-dealer, three-card poker game where the highest ranking wins the hand. The game is played with one 53-card deck of specialized cards, each of which features one of six possible characters (in order of rank): dragon, phoenix, tiger, panda, monkey or rabbit.
  • 3 Card Blitz is a progressive player-versus-dealer game where the highest three-card total of the same suit wins. Both the player and dealer are dealt seven cards, with the object of this flush-based game being to make the highest scoring hand using up to three suited cards out of the seven dealt.
  • Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em features heads-up play against the dealer and an optional bonus bet. The game offers players several advantages: the earlier you bet, the more you can bet; you don’t have to fold until you see all the community cards; and the Trips bonus pays odds if your final five-card hand is three-of-a-kind or better.
  • Double Draw Poker is played with a standard 52-card deck and two jokers, which can be used as an ace or to complete a straight or flush. The player gets two chances to draw cards to complete their five-card poker hand, and has the option for Ante or Bonus bets in play.
Play It First will be open seven days a week, with hours Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.
