Foxwoods Hosts Food & Wine Festival

MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Divas Uncorked, a consumer group of African-American professional women whose mission is to make wine more approachable to the public, will be part of an all-star line up of distinguished wine and spirits experts, who will lead informative tastings at the first annual Foxwoods Food & Wine Festival September 8-10, 2006, at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT.

Since forming in 1999, this group of ten vivacious women from Boston, MA has met monthly to help each other to learn about wine from the nuances of bouquet, and the tradition of vintage, to the fusion of food and wine pairings. "Wine savvy, not wine snobby" is their mantra. Divas Uncorked have since taken their monthly private gatherings public, along the way fostering relationships with vintners, sommeliers, and wine educators and have recently formed Collaborative Consortium, a novel joint business venture with several California wineries to make the wine world more approachable to women and people of color. The group now offers a Divas Uncorked scholarship for the study of wine.

"This partnership with the Divas represents part of our commitment to connect with all of our consumers in meaningful and relevant ways."

Foxwoods is bringing some of the foremost names in the culinary world to its palatial resort located in southeastern Connecticut. Celebrity Chefs Tom Colicchio, Tyler Florence and Masaharu Morimoto will be joined by a host of others for an inspiring weekend of cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, culinary seminars and special events.
