Former Health Foundation President Gets 10 Years For Embezzlement

IOWA -- As reported by KVTO 3: ``It's been nearly two months since Michael Feinstein pleaded guilty to charges of forgery and stealing over $100,000 from the Ottumwa Regional Health Foundation while he served as the group's president.

``On Monday, Judge Dan Wilson handed down his sentence. When the final judgement was made, it included prison time.

``…Les Thostenson, Chairman of the Ottumwa Regional Health Foundation's board addressed the court, "The defendant would have us believe he has a gambling problem. If the defendant really believes he has a gambling problem, then he knows the eighth step requires him to make amends to all the persons harmed. The only way for Feinstein to make amends to the entire community is to spend time in prison."

``…Foundation officials said they felt Feinstein was never remorseful. They say the alleged gambling addiction was an excuse, and that Feinstein committed the acts out of egotism stemming from his high position…"
