Former Casino Exec Sentenced for Embezzlement

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the Press Enterprise: "A former Pechanga casino executive who embezzled about $500,000 from his employer was sentenced to four years in prison Wednesday, the maximum allowed in his agreement with a judge.

"Supporters of Paul Del Vacchio, who admitted he used the money to fuel his online gambling addiction, urged Judge James T. Warren to show mercy on the 40-year-old former controller for the Pechanga Resort and Casino near Temecula.

"…After hearing from three supporters, Warren said Del Vacchio's addiction does not justify his crimes. The judge said he believes Del Vacchio is remorseful but noted the defendant pleaded guilty to 26 felonies that require punishment…"
