Former Casino Employees in Court24 March 2004CALIFORNIA – As reported by the (Woodland, California) Daily Democrat: "Six former employees of Cache Creek Indian Bingo and Casino accused of embezzling $374,000 by manipulating a card game pleaded 'no contest' Monday at Yolo County Superior Court. "They agreed to plea 'no contest' to a misdemeanor charge of embezzlement as part of a deal that will keep all six out of prison. "By accepting the deal they received three years of probation. They cannot work in a casino or consort with codefendants during that time. But they also avoid paying restitution for the stolen money, according to Deputy District Attorney Rob Gorman. "…All 10 former employees were arrested at the casino last April following an investigation by casino security officials. "…The scam revolved around a game of mini-bacarat. The scheme involved several conspirators who received un-shuffled cards from dealers, who colluded with supervisors as part of an illicit agreement to divide the winnings, he said…" |
