Forest County Potawatomi makes payment

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin -- As reported by the Greater Milwaukee Business Journal: "As part of an annual revenue sharing agreement, the Forest County Potawatomi made a $10.12 million payment on Friday to the city and county of Milwaukee, putting the total amount shared at more than $73 million since 2000.

"The payments — $5.06 million each to the city and county — are part of the 1999 agreement between the city, county and Potawatomi Tribe that pays the city and county based on a percentage of the Milwaukee casino's gross revenue. While many local governments in other states receive no direct payments from tribal casinos in their area, the city and county of Milwaukee receive one of the largest gaming revenue payments nationwide on a percentage basis, according to Casino City's 2007-2008 Indian Gaming Industry Report..."
