Foreign-Only Casino to Open in Seoul

SEOUL, South Korea – As reported by the Korea Times: "A foreigners-only casino to be operated by the state-run tourism agency will open in southern Seoul at the end of this year, Choi Jae-geun, vice-president of the Korea National Tourism Organization (KNTO), said Tuesday.

"The KNTO will establish a subsidiary company to run the casino in May after selecting the chief executive officer through public subscription.

"Last November, the tourism agency selected three casinos exclusively for foreigners, two in Seoul and one in the southeastern port city of Pusan. It aims to attract foreign travelers to the nation with the entertainment facilities.

"There are currently 13 foreigners-only casinos nationwide.

"…The KNTO said it decided to operate casinos as part of developing a better tourism infrastructure to attract more visitors. For mass entertainment, it plans to increase the ratio of games that those visiting casinos for the first time can enjoy…"
