Florida tracks waiting for governor's ok

FLORIDA -- As reported by the Miami Herald: "Broward's parimutuels are waiting for the governor to take action on a bill that lets them add more slot machines and operate them longer.

"Gov. Charlie Crist is not expected to sign the legislation, but instead will likely allow it to become law without his signature. Crist recently allowed a similar bill that expands the hours of operation at card rooms to become law without signing it himself.

"...The bill, which went to the governor Tuesday, also allows casinos to offer ATMs on site, although not inside the casinos themselves. Most of Broward's casinos got around the cash crunch by offering complimentary shuttle buses to ferry people to and from ATMs at nearby banks..."
