Florida Man Sentenced in Casino-Guard Slashing

MAYS LANDING, Florida - As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: ``A Florida man who slashed a casino security guard in the face and head during a scuffle was sentenced to seven years in prison for the crime.

``Carlos Rosa, 50, also known as Jorge Rodas, pleaded guilty April 22 to aggravated assault in the Nov. 1 crime.

``On Friday Superior Court Judge Michael Donio sentenced him to the term in the plea agreement.

``...A county grand jury indicted Rosa in December on one count of aggravated assault for slashing the Tropicana Casino and Resort security guard with a 3-inch carpenter's knife.

``Authorities say Rosa and the guard fought inside the casino. It is still unclear why he slashed the guard, whose identity was not released by the state..."
