Florida lottery hits milestone

FLORIDA – As reported by WTSP News: "Approaching its 20th birthday, the Florida Lottery is showing its age.

"For the games to continue pumping more than $1 billion a year into public education, a new report by legislative auditors recommends that Gov. Charlie Crist and state lawmakers consider new ways to keep players interested. Super-sized jackpots, video ticket terminals, joining multi-state lotteries or adding keno are among options cited by the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability.

"Lottery Secretary Leo DiBenigno said Monday that while Crist opposes expanded gambling, the department will update offerings to cope with changing competition…"
