Florida Gambling Ship Inspected

FORT PIERCE, Florida – As reported by the Palm Beach Post: "Coast Guard officials will inspect and conduct a training session with the crew of a gambling ship that ran into trouble last week when it struck the fishing pier off the South Bridge.

"A Coast Guard official said an inspection of the 77-foot Lady Luck, which was docked at the Fort Pier Marina Tuesday morning, will take place Friday and could ultimately result in the recertification of the ship's operating license. An inspection was canceled Tuesday because the ship was not ready, officials said.

"Even if the boat is recertified to operate, Fort Pierce city officials rejected an occupational license for the cruise ship last week because of unsafe parking conditions and sketchy information listed on a permit application, city planner Travis Gibbons said.

"…The Coast Guard suspended the ship's certificate of operation Thursday night when a passenger was injured at sea and the boat struck the pier…"
