Florida City May Get Piece of Gambling Pie2 March 2005FLORIDA – As reported by the Miami Herald: "The city of Miami Gardens could expect an annual windfall if the slot machine initiative before voters this month is approved. "The City Council voted last week to approve an agreement with Calder Race Course giving the city 1.7 percent of gross profits from slot machines. "The agreement hinges on the passage of Amendment 4 on March 8, which would allow slot machines in South Florida's five race tracks and two jai-alai frontons "…City Manager Danny Crew said the city could expect $2.5 million per year from the agreement…" |
