Florida casino bad beat jackpot hits again8 January 2010TAMPA, Florida -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Seminole Mega Bad Beat Poker Jackpot has been hit again, this time for $147,359.00 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa about 48 hours after the debut hit of $365,407 on Jan. 3 at the original Seminole Casino in Hollywood, Fla. That brings the total payout for the recently introduced property-wide poker bad beat jackpot to more than half-a-million-dollars so far. The Seminole Mega Bad Beat (a poker bad beat is when a player has an apparently unbeatable hand yet loses to a better hand) happened at 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5 when four Kings were beaten by a Heart Royal Flush in a game of Texas Hold-Em. Wesley P. of Gainesville, Fla. was the big winner with $73,680; Keith E. of Riverview had the Kings for $44,208. The other seven players split the remaining $29,472 or $4,211 per person. Fifty percent of the SeminoleMega Bad Beat prize pool is awarded to the qualifying losing hand; 30 percent to the qualifying winning hand; and 20 percent divided among the remaining players "We're excited for our poker players; the multi-casino approach to larger, more frequent bad beat jackpots," Jeffrey Hook, vice president of marketing for Seminole Gaming said. The Seminole Mega Bad Beat Jackpot just launched on Dec. 1, funded by a $1 contribution from each pot of $10 or greater at the poker rooms in six Seminole casinos: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Seminole Casino Immokalee, Seminole Casino Brighton, and Seminole Casino Hollywood. Once it is won, the jackpot immediately resets at $100,000; something only done at Seminole casinos in Florida. On Dec. 22, 2009 at 8:50 p.m. two Florida men won the "local" bad beat – or individual casino bad beat jackpot -- at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa. Harry W. of Charlotte won $36,072 and Angel C. of St. Petersburg received $18,036. Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa is the casino with the largest regular bad beat jackpot in history. On June 9, 2008 a player hit their local bad beat for $564,905. Here's how it's won: Only the top two hands at the showdown are eligible for the Mega Bad Beat Jackpot and both hands must be the best possible combination of five cards. The minimum losing hand is four 10s. At least four players must be dealt in a qualifying table. Tables with less than four players will not have a jackpot drop. Multi-table tournaments are excluded from winning the Mega Bad Beat Jackpot. Single table tournaments are eligible until less than four players remain. Players must play their hands independently. |
