Five-Story Downtown Hotel-Casino Proposed

WATERLOO -- As reported by Waterloo Courier: "Cedar Valley Gaming Co. today unveiled plans for a five-story casino-hotel on the Wells Fargo Bank site overlooking the Cedar River.

"The plans also include a restored Russell-Lamson Building and an adjacent 1,000-stall parking garage.

"The plans call for a casino on the building's first two floors and a horseshoe-shaped 90-room hotel on the upper three levels.

"...The casino's second floor would feature a 1,800-seat theater for entertainment acts and a 350-seat buffet-style restaurant, the Firehouse Grille.

"...The unveiling of plans followed Sunday's announcement that Cedar Valley Gaming had picked the Wells Fargo and Russell-Lamson blocks as the site for a $80 to $100 million downtown casino that would employ 600 people..."
