First four days of March Madness break records at William Hill

20 March 2017

(PRESS RELEASE) -- For William Hill, Nevada's largest sportsbook operator, the first four days of the College Basketball Championship Tournament were record-breakers. The cumulative handle (total dollars wagered) on the 48 Tournament games surpassed last year's record handle by 30% at William Hill's 108 Nevada sports books and on the mobile sports app.

For reference, the cumulative handle on the Tournament for the first three days (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) bested the total handle of Super Bowl 51 (including all prop and futures bets).

The biggest decision of the weekend for William Hill was on the Arizona vs. St. Mary's Second Round matchup. William Hill needed the Gaels for a seven-figure swing – as bettors heavily backed the Wildcats. The Wildcats prevailed and delighted the majority of Point Spread and Money Line bettors. There were more unique gameday pregame bets (Point Spreads + Money Line + Totals) written on the game at William Hill's 108 Nevada sportsbook and mobile sports app than any game in the 2016 Tournament (including the Championship game between UNC and Villanova).
