Filipino Mayor Blocks Casino Attempts

PHILIPPINES – As reported by the Filipino Star: "San Juan Mayor Joseph Victor Ejercito vowed to block attempts by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) or any private individual to open a casino in his town.

"Ejercito was reacting to earlier reports that the San Juan municipal government had allowed Pagcor and a Malaysian investor to put up a casino along Annapolis St. in Greenhills.

"The mayor claimed that since he assumed his post in 2001, he has consistently blocked attempts of an operator of an online gambling facility to open a gaming shop in his town.

"…Ejercito assured the public he will turn down proposals to open a casino in his town..."
