Filipino Internet Casino Ordered Closed

PHILIPPINES – As reported by the Philippine Star: "Pasig City Mayor Vicente Eusebio has ordered the closure of an Internet cafe operating as an eCasino shop at the Ortigas Center.

"Eusebio ordered the closure of the Ortigas eCasino along Meralco Avenue corner Doña Julia Vargas, Barangay San Antonio, Pasig City the other day after it was found to be violating several city ordinances.

"The establishment has allegedly been operating as an online casino rather than an Internet cafe and retailer of foods as stated on its business permit and license.

"… Patrons of eCasino had to buy an Internet card in the said establishment before playing the different online games on computers. All bets and prizes of patrons are charged to the Internet card and if the patron wins he or she can convert the card into cash…"
