Filipino Cops Use Text Messaging to Curb Illegal Gambling

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines – As reported by the Philippine Sun Star: "Police and local officials in South Cotabato have turned to text messaging in their bid to stop the reported rampant illegal gambling activities in the province.

"South Cotabato Governor Daisy Avance-Fuentes appealed to residents this morning to provide information about gambling financiers and protectors, especially of the 'last two' game, by sending cellular phone text messages to at least two local radio stations.

"Bombo Radyo's station dxMC and Radio Mindanao Network's dxKR have been maintaining cellular phone hotlines, which specifically receives information on any issue from the public.

"…The 'last two' game is played by drawing the last two digits of the winning number combination of a Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office's sweepstakes draw…"
